ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMPS 2019
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering offers several summer programs for K-12 students. All camps are designed to help increase awareness and exposure to careers in engineering; to increase academic preparedness in math-, science-, and computer-literacy for pursuing careers in STEM majors; and to increase the development of technical competencies such as interpersonal skills, teamwork and motivation. Our programs offers several enrichment components such as math building skills, professional development activities, college and career presentations, physical activity and career immersion experiences.

(July 8-12, 2019, 8:30am-3:30pm)
The ACEE All About Energy camp is a one week-long academic engineering camp for 4th - 12th graders that promotes energy awareness through fun and creative hands-on activities. The curriculum focuses on teaching energy design principles and incorporates various activities such as a solar energy cook-off and a junior solar sprint race. Professional development and physical enrichment components are included.
ACEE Technology Camp (3rd-5th graders)
(July 1-3, 2019, 8:30am-3:30pm)
The ACEE Technology camp is a 3-day academic engineering camp for 3rd-5th graders that focuses on increasing engineering career awareness through engaging, hands-on activities in robotics, computer science, circuits, and/or alternative energy. Exciting field-trips are planned which help to reinforce the basic concepts that are learned throughout the camp.
ACEE Robotics Engineering Mindstorms(Middle-School)
(June 24-28, 2019, 8:30am-3:30pm)
The ACEE Robotics Engineering Mindstorms camp is a one week-long academic engineering day camp for 6th - 8th graders that promotes engineering career awareness and academic preparation using hands-on activities. The curriculum focuses on programming an EV3 mindstorms robot and includes enrichment components such as professional development, career immersion experiences and field-trips with a strong emphasis on building teamwork skills. Students compete in a robotics competition at the end of the week.
ACEE Robotics Engineering Arduino Camp (High-School)
(July 15-19, 2019, 8:30am-3:30pm)
The ACEE Robotics Engineering Arduino camp is a one week-long academic engineering day camp for 9th - 12th graders that promotes academic preparation, engineering career awareness and engineering competency skill development such as interpersonal skills, teamwork and motivation. The curriculum uses an Arduino programming platform to teach basic concepts in robotics, computer science and engineering. Professional development, guest speakers, career immersion experiences, physical enrichment and field-trips are also incorporated into the program.
AEOP RESEARCH in ENGINEERING & APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (REAP)
(June 10-July 19, 2019)
This program provides summer opportunities for high-school students from historically underrepresented and under-served populations to contribute to research in a University lab setting. Students must apply online at http://www.usaeop.com/reap. The deadline was February 28, 2018.
All camps are from 8:30am-3:30pm (Monday-Friday, with the exception of the ACEE Technology camp which is Monday-Wednesday). All camps will be held at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Building A, 2525 Pottsdamer Street, Tallahassee, Florida. All camps are day camps. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the camp. Limited seats available. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
