ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMPS 2018
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering offers several summer programs for K-12 students. All camps are designed to help increase awareness and exposure to careers in engineering; to increase academic preparedness in math-, science-, and computer-literacy for pursuing careers in STEM majors; and to increase the development of technical competencies such as interpersonal skills, teamwork and motivation. Our programs offers several enrichment components such as math building skills, professional development activities, college and career presentations, physical activity and career immersion experiences.
ENGINEERING CAMP FOR MIDDLE-SCHOOL STUDENTS
(July 9-13, 2018)
This camp emphasizes Robotics using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots. Participants will learn to design, build, program and test robots for various challenge missions. They will learn effective teamwork, problem-solving skills, academic skills and professional development. They will participate in a design competition at the end of the camp. The cost is $125.
ENGINEERING CAMP FOR HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS
(June 25-29, 2018)
This camp emphasizes Robotics engineering. Participants will learn to design, build, program and test robots for various challenge missions. The camp’s curriculum is based on the Lego Mindstorms EV3 platform and incorporates teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, engineering career awareness and professional development. The cost is $125.
AEOP RESEARCH in ENGINEERING & APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (REAP)
(June 4-July 13, 2018)
This program provides summer opportunities for high-school students from historically underrepresented and under-served populations to contribute to research in a University lab setting. Students must apply online at http://www.usaeop.com. The deadline is February 28, 2018.
All camps are from 8:30am-4:00pm (Monday-Friday). All camps will be held at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Building A, 2525 Pottsdamer Street, Tallahassee, Florida. All camps are day camps. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the camp.
